Agile Leadership Lab

Many things are changing. Continually and on several levels. We live in a world characterised by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity, the so-called "VUCA" world. Demands come from outside, but needs that come from "inside" also require attention – and it is not so easy for a manager to fully reach their own potential and help their employees reach theirs.

Agile leaders help organisations respond more quickly to change and deploy resources more effectively by giving employees and teams the support they need to work together more effectively and productively.

In this course, you will receive a systematic overview and gain a comprehensive understanding of the subject of leadership. The aim is to help you to acquire decision-making and reflection skills that enable you to you can lead yourself, teams, and organisations during your studies and/or in your everyday professional life.

In addition to building up a sound knowledge base on the subject of leadership, you will learn appropriate methods that you can apply in practice.

Content

  • Leadership basics
  • Lead yourself
  • Leading teams
  • Leading organisations
  • Leading in virtual space

Teaching and learning methods

This course takes place in 3 phases:

Online phase: In the online phase, you will acquire basic knowledge through self-study. This is accomplished by reading a mixture of articles and literature on the topic, watching informative videos, and taking advantage of other small learning offers. You can flexibly plan when and where you learn. To ask questions and to exchange information with lecturers and other course participants, simply visit the TU Graz learning platform "TeachCenter". Before the online phase begins, a synchronous online session (e.g. with Webex) will be held with the lecturer, which provides and easy introduction to the content of the modules. Every week, a synchronous online session will be held with the lecturer, providing you with the opportunity to reflect on the content and to ask any questions you may have through direct exchange.
Duration: 19 days

Attendance phase: Building on knowledge you have gained in the online phase, you will deepen this knowledge in course units and receive personal support from experts on site. The transferred knowledge is discussed, reflected upon, further deepened, and applied with reference to case study examples. Students who cannot be present on site for professional reasons can participate in the courses via an online conference system (e.g. with Webex).
Duration: 3 days

Transfer phase: This phase takes place individually (i.e. alone) or in a team. In this phase, you have the chance to use the knowledge you have gained to try to address questions and solve problems that have arisen in your company context. You will also receive support from experts during this phase.
