Freedom of Information Act (IFG)

The Freedom of Information Act – in German: Informationsfreiheitsgesetz (IFG) – for public bodies entered into force on 1 September 2025. 

Accordingly, public universities are obliged to proactively publish information of general interest (obligation to proactively provide information).

In general, relevant information is published on the TU Graz platform for public tenders eVergabe as well as in the University Gazette. In the University Gazette, according to § 20 (6) of the Universities Act (UG), the following information is published in particular:

  • Statutes, development plan and organisational chart
  • Performance agreement
  • Financial statement
  • Intellectual capital report
  • Guidelines and directives of the governing bodies
  • Regulations and rules of procedure of governing bodies
  • Curricula
  • Announcements and election results
  • Announcements of job openings and management positions
  • Members of the governing bodies
  • Awarding of teaching qualifications
  • Authorisations and powers of attorney

Any further information of general interest that arises after 1 September 2025 will be published on the portal data.gv.at and is accessible there – unless publication of the information is in conflict with confidentiality interests.

Furthermore, you also have the option of submitting a request for specific information to TU Graz. This request can be granted if it is not in conflict with legitimate interests (e.g., data protection, copyright) of TU Graz or third parties.
