Digtial & Green Economy

Digital business and action fields are experiencing enormous growth. This growth is due to the online activities that take place among people, companies, and end devices, comprising several trillions of datapoints and processes each day. 

In this university course, you will receive a systematic overview of new business and action fields in the digital economy. This overview will improve your understanding of conceptual basics as well as drivers of digital transformation. The approaches toward entrepreneurial thinking that you learn in the course provide you with also have the necessary tools to implement them. In the final transfer project, you will have the chance to work on a specific example from your everyday work/company using the technologies presented.

Participants in the Executive MBA Green and Digital Transition programme take this university course as a module specializing in Green Transition Business Cases and are required to complete a transfer project in the field of Green and Digital Transition.

  • Introduction to the Digital Economy Classification for digital technologies and the fields of action based on these
  • Company-wide view of digital value creation
  • Provision of digital services and business models in the company
  • Development of new business areas and business models in the digital economy
  • Case studies on strategic management

Teaching and Learning Methods

The course consists of 3 phases:

  1. Online Phase:
    • You will acquire foundational knowledge through flexible self-directed study using learning videos, specialist literature and other digital learning resources.
    • Regular online sessions (e.g., via Webex) with the lecturers provide opportunities for questions, discussion and reflection.
    • You will also have access to the TU Graz learning platform, “TeachCenter”.
  2. Face-to-Face Phase:
    • Building on the online content, you will deepen your knowledge together with experts through discussions, case studies and practice-oriented applications.
    • Online participation is possible if professional commitments prevent attendance in person.
  3. Transfer Phase:
    • The knowledge gained is applied to specific challenges from your professional environment –
    • individually or as part of a team, with guidance and support from experts.
