Step 1: Being Nominated by your Home University

Prerequisites for studying at TU Graz with OverSEAs:

your home university and TU Graz have signed a bilateral agreement
your home university nominates you for this mobility programme at TU Graz

Deadlines for Nominations

15 March (preferred deadline, latest until 31 March) for the winter semester and the full academic year
15 September (preferred deadline, latest until 30 September) for the summer semester

How to nominate students in Mobility Online

Step 2: Online Application

You will receive an access code to Mobility Online via email as soon as you have been nominated by your home university. Make sure to read the application guide BEFORE beginning to fill in the aplication.

Step 3: Upload the application documents

Please upload the following application documents in Mobility Online:

Portrait photo
Signed application form (available in Mobility Online)
A copy of your passport
English language certificates
Transcript of Records
Bachelor's Degree Programme Certificate (optional)

Part 1: Portrait photo

Criteria:

jpeg, png oder gif file with a maximum of 500x500 pixel
Your head must face the camera directly with full face in view.
You must have a neutral facial expression or a natural smile, with both eyes open.
Taken in clothing normally worn on a daily basis
Printed in color

Part 2: Signed Application Form

Download the application form from Mobility Online. Print it out and sign it. Afterwards please upload it to Mobility Online.

Part 3: Copy of your passport

Please note: Your passport has to be valid for the entire period of your stay.

Part 4: English Language Certificates

Your progress in your degree programme should not be hindered by difficulties with these languages. A language certificate is therefore required that indicates a minimum level of B2 on the scales of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The language certificate may not be older than 2 years.

Language certificates must be issued by language schools or language departments at universities.

A high school leaving certificate cannot be accepted as language certificate.

Students with English or German as their native language do not need to submit a language certificate.

Part 5: Transcript of Records

The transcript of records is issued by your home university and lists all the courses you have successfully completed together with grades and ECTS credit points. It serves as proof of your progress in your degree programme. With reference to this list, the subject area coordinator can decide whether the courses you have chosen to take at TU Graz are appropriate for you.

Part 6: If you are applying for a Master's Degree Programme: "Bachelor's Degree Programme Certificate"

As a rule, mobility students are registered for bachelor's degree programmes. Only students who have completed their Bachelor’s Degree Programme and included a copy of their certificate in the application package may be registered for a Master’s Degree Programme. However, students registered for a bachelor's degree programme may take master's degree courses as long as they meet the requirements for the course (proven by the transcript of records).

Step 4: Course Selection

When all application documents have been uploaded successfully and are approved by the International Office, you have to create your Learning Agreement with your course selection in Mobility Online.

Deadlines for Uploading the Learning Agreement

15 May for the winter semester and the whole academic year
31 October for the summer semester

It is highly recommended to hand in the Learning Agreement well before this deadline. The earlier you send it, the sooner you can be accepted and take care of other details about your stay at Graz; especially accommodation and German course.

Course Selection

You have to submit your course selection as part of your online application. There is no strict curriculum for exchange students. So you are free to additionally select courses from almost all faculties (exception: courses in Architecture are only for Architecture students).

These are some ways to find the best courses for your stay at TU Graz:

Look up the curriculum of the degree programme that you applied for at TU Graz
Find courses in English on www.tugraz.at/go/search-courses
Search by keywords in TUGRAZonline
Read reports of former students from your home university who studied at TU Graz as mobility students and find out which courses they recommend.

Choose wisely and use the detailed course descriptions available for each course offered at TU Graz in the online system TUGRAZonline. Open the search option on the top right corner and then select "Courses". Insert the course number or title and then click on the course link. Here, you can find the descriptions including ECTS credit points and exam information.

Step 5: Your "Letter of Acceptance"

As soon as all the application documents as well as the completed and fully signed learning agreement is uploaded in Mobility Online, the International Office provides you with the Letter of Acceptance. This document is available in Mobility Online. You will be able to download it from Mobility Online together with information about accommodation, visa, German courses etc.

Please note that your letter of acceptance is only available via this Online Platform.

Accommodation

Take care of finding accommodation in Graz as soon as your letter of acceptance is available.

Deadlines for accommodation of the OeAD:

15 June for the winter semester
15 November for the summer semester

German Course

The official language in Austria is German. It is strongly recommended to take part in the 3-week intensive course in September or February, respectively.

Since mobility students of all universities in Graz take part in these intensive courses, this is a good way to make friends.

Visa/Residence Permit

Please take care of all entry matters in good time, independently and on your own responsibility. You can apply for the visa/residence permit with the Letter of Acceptance you received after your successful application. Detailed information is also provided in the Letter of Acceptance and the Pre-Arrival Guide.
