Admission to Bachelor’s Degree Programmes

  1. Application for Admission form
  2. School-leaving certificate with list of grades as well as grade report from the last school year (The documents submitted need to reflect how many years of schooling have been completed.)
    If you have already completed a university degree:
    Diploma or award certificate of a higher education programme of at least three years' duration (Bachelor's or Diploma programme) including proof of the courses attended (Transcript of Records or Diploma Supplement with details of ECTS, credit points or semester hours per week).
  3. Transcript of Records (if a university degree programme has already been started)
  4. Proof of German language competence
  5. Copy of passport (only the page with the personal data)
  6. Curriculum vitae

For countries with an additional university entrance examination, this must be submitted.

Admission to Master’s Degree Programmes

  1. Application for Admission form
  2. Certificate of the completed undergraduate degree
  3. Transcript of records of the completed degree with details of the examinations taken, grades and credits
  4. Proof of German language competence (only for master's programmes taught in German)
    Proof of English language competence (only for master's programmes taught in English)
  5. Copy of passport (only the page with the personal data)

For admission to the master’s degree programme in Architecture, candidates have to submit a portfolio for the purposes of assessing the equivalence of their previous degree.

Admission to Doctoral Programmes

  1. Application for Admission form
  2. Certificates of the completed undergraduate and graduate degrees.
  3. Transcript of records or diploma supplement of the degree courses with details of examinations taken, grades and credits
  4. Written letter of confirmation from your doctoral supervisor at TU Graz, stating that they are willing to supervise your dissertation
  5. Copy of passport (only the page with personal data)
  6. Curriculum vitae

Find a thesis subject and a supervisor

The Doctoral Schools cover a wide spectrum of research fields in which you can write a thesis. On the website of each doctoral school you can find the subject areas and contact details of potential supervisors.

If one of these people agrees to supervise your thesis, they will give you a letter of confirmation that you can submit as part of the admissions process.

Country-specific information

High School Diploma (HSD), USA

A high school diploma or high school degree is awarded on high school graduation in the United States of America. This diploma alone is not equivalent to a general university entrance qualification.

Additional qualifications are required for admission to a higher education institution in Austria, such as examinations in the Advanced Placement Program, the SAT, the ACT or periods of study at a recognised post-secondary educational institution totalling two years.

The high school diploma must be apostilled.

General Certificate of Education (GCE A-Levels)

  • Applicants from the United Kingdom must prove completion of four independent, general education subjects with at least the grades A*, A, B or C (or Grades 9-4). At the very least, they must include:
    • one language
    • mathematics
    • one of the following subjects: biology, physics or chemistry
    • one humanities subject
  • At least three of the four subjects must have been passed at GCE Advanced Level, the fourth subject at GCSE or IGCSE Level.
  • Advanced Supplementary Level (AS) is equivalent to the GCSE Level for the above conditions.
  • The International Advanced Level (IAL) is equivalent to the GCE Advanced Level for the above requirements.
  • Besides GCSE, IGCSE, GCE or IAL, a language test conducted purely in the English language may not be used to assess general university entrance qualifications.
