Proof of English Language Competence

In order to be admitted to a Master's Degree Programme taught in English at TU Graz, or to one of the following Bachelor's programmes in Computer Science, Software Engineering and Management, Information and Computer Engineering and Chemical Process Engineering, you must prove your English Language Competence at level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (CEFR).

Attention: Proof of language skills

For the Bachelor's degree programmes Computer Science, Software Engineering and Management, Information and Computer Engineering and Chemical and Process Engineering, in addition to proof of German language skills also proof of English language skills at level C1 must also be submitted with the application. Both language certificates must not be older than two years at the time of application.

If you are unable to provide proof of English language proficiency at level C1 at the time of application, TU Graz will require you to take the ‘Supplementary Examination in English’ at the University Preparation Programme Graz in your letter of admission. This must be taken BEFORE the start of the Bachelor degree programme.

Proof of English Language Competence
  • A language certificate, no more than two years old at the time of application, which demonstrates the language level English-C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Suitable language certificates are in any case
    • TOEFL internet based test (total score 95)
    • IELTS Academic (overall band score 7.0)
    • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English min. 180 points/Grade C
    • Cambridge Proficiency English
    • Telc Certificate English C1
    • Pearson Test of English Academic PTE (score 76)
  • Completion of the school-leaving examination in the subject English at a school in an EU/EEA member state
  • Completion of a degree programme in English that lasted at least two years in an EU/EEA member state, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or the United States
