Austrian Alpine Club - Academic Section

Is mountaineering one of your passions? Do you look for adventure on little walls or big peaks? Then the Österreichischer Alpenverein is the right place for you!

Founded in 1862, the Alpenverein (AV for short) is an Alpine association with a social, ecological and cultural mission and a rich tradition. It is divided into 196 sections, each section an association in its own right. The Academic Section Graz originated in a student association and celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2017.

For me, everything began with the AV bouldering session organised by the Academic Section. Meanwhile I have visited additional courses including sport climbing and Alpine tours, and I have even completed training to be a sports climbing exercise instructor. I have met a lot of great people who share my passion – climbing. Over time, thanks to numerous excursions, experiences and achievements together I have made some real friends I wouldn’t want to be without.
