The degree programme is based on a broad scientific education in the field of audio technology. Building on a basic education in mathematics and physics, as well as music theory and music practice, you will acquire specialist knowledge in electrical engineering, signal processing, acoustics and computer science. You will deepen your musical expertise through ear training and instrumental lessons.

During your studies in electrical engineering and sound engineering, you will simultaneously immerse yourself in the world of Graz University of Technology and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG). This allows you to benefit from the excellent infrastructure of both universities, such as the "CUBE", a playback room for 3D spatial sound at KUG.

Graduates of the Electrical Engineering and Sound Engineering degree programme, which is unique in Europe, deal with, among other things:

  •     Hardware development in the audio and multimedia entertainment sector
  •     Software development for professional studio technology - from hardware-related to user-specific
  •     Recording and playback
  •     Acoustic measurement technology
  •     acoustic design and optimisation of e.g. rooms, vehicles or household appliances
  •     Editing and processing of audio and speech signals
