Unsteady flow data from the transonic test turbine obtained by Laser-Doppler-Velocimetry
Experimental investigations of a transonic turbine stage have been performed at the Institute for Thermal Turbomachinery and Machine Dynamics over five years. The experimental data and the stage geometry are offered to the scientific community in order to support the understanding of unsteady three-dimensional transonic flow through cooperative CFD simulation. The data focuses on unsteady flow phenomena in transonic turbines (stator-rotor interaction). It has been recorded at Graz University of Technology within the framework of program Y-57 TEC, funded by the Austrian Science Foundation and the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology. The data contains information on the stage geometry, boundary conditions, velocity, turbulence and cross-moments for two planes; one located between the stator and the rotor, and the other downstream of the rotor blades.
If you use these data, please make sure to acknowledge the TU Graz and cite the following publication: E.Goettlich, F.Neumayer, J.Woisetschlaeger, W.Sanz, F.Heitmeir (2004) "Investigation of Stator-Rotor Interaction in a Transonic Turbine Stage Using Laser Doppler Velocimetry and Pneumatic Probes", ASME Journal of Turbomachinery, April 2004, Vol. 126 pp 297-305
A recent publication on the CFD simulation of the transonic stage can be found here.
