Campus Inffeldgasse

For education, research and society: This is what’s coming to the campus Inffeldgasse

In the coming years, TU Graz and the Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft (BIG, the federal real estate company) will ensure that the campus Inffeldgasse is designed sustainably ‒ with an open mind and so as to appeal to all its users and local residents.

Sustainable and future-proof

Sustainability is the primary goal in planning and implementing the development of the entire district and the campus itself. For Graz as a hub of research, innovation and education, the campus Inffeldgasse plays an important role in future-proofing so that we are ready to meet any challenges through research and innovation. Education and research are not just essential for the local economy, but for our society as a whole. They enable us to provide essential impetus.

For science and the entire district

When designing the campus Inffeldgasse, designing education and research infrastructure goes hand in hand with improvements for the residents of the entire district. The goal is to create a campus where people enjoy spending time: this includes details such as publicly accessible green spaces, water dispensers and benches in green zones that invite people to stay a while without having to purchase anything at a nearby café. Along with enough space for sporting activities, the campus Inffeldgasse will thus become a place where people actually want to go.

Walkable and bicycle-friendly

Access to the location will also be upgraded, which will particularly benefit residents in the neighbourhood. For the design of the campus Inffeldgasse, our project partners have planned a walkable, bicycle-friendly campus along with improvements to public transport in collaboration with the city of Graz.

From our charter

The campus allows for studying, researching and working, as well as for taking breaks and spending time leisurely in a green, relaxed environment with many meeting points on an open campus that, as part of the city, sets a strong example of sustainability. Campus Inffeldgasse charter (in German)

Master Plan for TU Graz’s Campus Inffeldgasse

Campus Inffeldgasse is the largest of TU Graz’s three campuses and will continue to grow in the coming decades. A master plan was drawn up as the basis for this future urban development. In addition to more space for teaching, learning and research, this will also open up the campus more. With thoroughfares for pedestrians, cyclists and public transport and extensive green spaces and public sports areas for the entire neighbourhood, the site will become a district centre where people enjoy spending time.
