It was a wonderful day when I received an admission letter from TU Graz, but after that amazing day, a lot of paperwork was waiting for me. Especially, during the ongoing coronavirus restrictions made that paperwork even harder, nevertheless with the help of the Welcome Center of the University, I could overcome all the issues and received a positive notification from the Immigration authority. Unfortunately, it is not that easy to find trustworthy information on the internet, but when I needed any help or a piece of advice, the Welcome center was always there with quick responses to my emails.

After I arrived in Graz, I got all the needed information on opening a bank account and taking insurance, residence permit card, etc. A lot of interesting events and meetings are organized by the Welcome center and I find them very helpful for new students. Fortunately, I attended one of those events and made some new friends. I am grateful for their help and I already feel at home with their support.

Dealing with bureaucracy for international studies can be very overwhelming, migrating for PhD can be tough in so many ways. The Welcome Center makes it not only manageable, but also makes you feel you are taken care of, you are not alone and they will help you work out all the difficulties. It is also a warm social welcome of a community, which you really need as a foreigner to feel at home. Thank you so much for being there.
