IT System Administrator

20 - 40 hours/week.

Admission requirements

  • Matura / High School Diploma

Desirable qualifications

  • Profound knowledge of Linux and Windows system administration and high awareness of IT security
  • Experience with web applications/web servers and virtual environments (VMWare vSphere) as well as in the operation, configuration and troubleshooting of Microsoft Exchange/mail servers
  • Experience with configuration management systems (Puppet), monitoring systems (Icinga) and configuration of DNS servers is an advantage
  • Basic knowledge of software development, versioning and deployment of software
  • Basic knowledge of script and programming languages for the automation of processes
  • Very good knowledge of English

Your tasks

  • Operation and maintenance of the existing heterogeneous IT landscape in terms of software and hardware (Linux and Windows systems)
  • Purchase of hardware and planning of new IT systems
  • Maintenance and adaptation of the existing network infrastructure (core/edge switches incl. firewall)
  • 1st and 2nd level support of the scientific staff for all IT issues
  • Operation of the existing Linux HPC compute cluster, the laboratory infrastructure as well as the virtualization and SAN infrastructure
  • Operation of the existing web application and website infrastructure

Classification

Job Grading in Accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement: IIIa (higher school certificate, equivalent to Matura) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade. The gross salary for this position amounts to a minimum of € 2116,60/month, 14x per year (including social and health insurance) and may possibly increase on the basis of the provisions of the collective agreement by taking into account previous experience specific to the job and other remuneration components associated with the special features of the job.
