BME OpenLab

The BME OpenLab opened on the 11th of October 2023 and is an initiative which was designed to give students on the Biomedical Engineering curriculum the opportunity to carry out their own small hardware projects at open-access laboratory workstations. A pilot was launched with initially 2 workstations set up by the STV BME workstations in the student laboratory on the 1st floor of the building at Stremayrgasse 16. Students can use the Lab generally outside the times when the room is used for BME teaching (mainly the laboratory from GL of Biomedical Engineering in the WS).

After a short opening and introduction by the Dean of Studies H. Scharfetter, the Dean of the CSBME faculty, G. Müller-Putz, welcomed the partner manager of Infineon A. Mühlberger (Sponsoring) and the two deputy chairmen of the HTU, Eve Losbichler and Alexander Zauner. The official part ended with a speech by R. Moser, R. Sallocker and A. Zotter presented an overview of the contributions made by the StV BME's contributions to the development of the Open Lab. Finally, students, organizers and company representatives were able to take a tour of the BME Open Lab on the 1st floor of Stremayrgasse 16 to get an idea of the  workstations set up for the pilot and round off the event with sandwiches and drinks.
