Good to know
First of all, you have access to the Library on every campus. So whether you're at the Old Campus, NAWI, or Inffeld, you'll find us at all three locations. Just keep in mind that the NAWI and Inffeld subject Libraries usually have shorter opening hours. You can always find the latest information on opening hours on our website. If you want to return a book later or on the weekend, there are return boxes available at all locations.
Borrowing books
Speaking of outside of the opening hours: there is a 24h-pick-up station at the main library at Technikerstraße where you can pick up your ordered books at any time. But how does borrowing books actually work? In our LibrarySearch portal, you can search the entire holding, from print books to e-books and journals, and use this system to order books or reserve them. You will then be notified by email as soon as they are ready for collection at the circulation desk. With the location information from LibrarySearch, you can also go and get them yourself and borrow the books either at the circulation desk or at our self-checkout.
As a student at Graz University of Technology, you automatically have a library account, and your TU Graz Card also serves as your library card. No additional registration is necessary. You also have the option of using the “Libraries Styria” network and having your card activated for other academic libraries in Styria.
Studying in the library
We want to offer you the best environment for concentrated study. To this end, workstations with charging stations and in addition some with HDMI cable connections are available in the reading rooms. Just plug in your laptop to the screen and you're ready to go! You can also book one of our study rooms at any time for collaborative work.
But we've also got you covered if you need a little break: on the 3rd floor of the main Library and in the FB Inffeld, you'll find a table for creative study breaks where you can relax with puzzles, mandalas, crocheting, and more.
You don't have to go without your vital coffee either. On the ground floor of the Main Library, there is a study area with a coffee machine that is open to you. In the subject Libraries, you even have the cafeteria right outside the door, or at least in the same building.
Using textbooks – on campus and at home
All three locations have a collection of textbooks that correspond to the subject areas of the respective campus. There you will find several copies of important standard works, and we have also provided QR codes that you can use to access the e-book versions directly. As a TU member, you can also access our entire online holding from home at any time via VPN.
Next to the textbook collection in the main Library, you will find reference collections that professors have compiled on topics related to their courses. However, these books can only be used on site. You can also find the virtual version of these collections in our LibrarySearch portal.
Events and social media
We want to give you the best possible support during your studies. To this end, we offer various workshops and coffee lectures on study-related topics throughout the semester and invite you to browse our program of events. A little tip: it's always worth visiting our readings and book sale, where you can purchase items from our discarded stock. All events can be found in the flyer available at all locations and digitally on our website, as well as on Instagram and Facebook, where we keep you up to date on our current offers. On YouTube we also provide video tutorials for quick help.
Don't be shy about approaching the library team
And last but not least, the most important tip: don't be afraid to talk to us and ask for help. Whether it’s at the circulation desk or by email (service.bibliothek), we are always happy to assist you and answer any questions you may have about using the Library, conducting research, or anything else. @tugraz.at
