Sustainable construction will dramatically change competition between investors, planners and construction products. We must take a holistic approach to buildings, taking into account their life cycle, and ecological, economic, social and cultural aspects. People are only just becoming aware of this. Efficiency of energy and materials, reduction of emissions, life-cycle management, life-cycle costs and careful management of existing buildings will be of great importance in the future, as will safety, functionality and building culture.
