Open day taster at the Graz unis on 20 April

Prospective students are most welcome: The University of Graz, University of Music and Performing Arts, Medical University of Graz and TU Graz present the broad range of their study programmes together on Thursday, 20 April 2017.

Information tours at institutes, advice about fields of study, getting to know students teams and insights on the variety of job profiles in technology and science - all available at the "Open Day" at TU Graz on 20 April.
The certificate of qualification for university entrance opens the door to the many different professions and careers but choosing the right study programme can be quite challenging because of the sheer number of courses. Luckily, the annual Open Day provides a comprehensive overview of the range of studies offered by the four Graz universities. The University of Graz, the University of Music and Performing Arts, Graz, the Medical University of Graz and TU Graz will be presenting the broad range of their study programmes together from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Thursday, 20 April 2017. They include English language and literature, pharmaceutical science, human medicine and nursing science, chamber music and performing arts, mechanical engineering and computer science, among others. Prospective students, teaching staff and parents are cordially invited to take a look behind the scenes in tours of the institutes and campuses of the four Graz universities during this taster day. Free-of-charge shuttle buses will carry guests from campus to campus.

Shared welcome at 9:00 am

The day will start with a welcome. Visitors to the University of Graz, the Medical University of Graz, and the University of Music and Performing Arts will be welcomed in lecture hall 07.01 in the “Vorklinik” of the Medical University on the University of Graz campus at 9:00 am. The Open Day will also start at the same time in lecture hall i13 at Inffeldgasse 16b of TU Graz. From 9am, a convenient shuttle bus service will connect the four universities.

University of Graz

The “4students – Studien Info Service” team (study programme info service) offer opportunities – in more than 60 workshops – to get to know the study programmes and institutes, sample research and scholarship, and ask all the questions which haven’t so far been answered about studying at university. There are special workshops about admission procedures for study programmes with limited places and a workshop called „Making atoms visible“ to introduce the study programme Physics. UniGraz@Museum and the "Kriminalmuseum" deliver insights into their extensive collections and special tours give the opportunity to expolre the campus.

University of Music and Performing Arts

There will be a welcome for visitors right at the heart of the University of Music and Performing Arts (KUG) in the Florentine Room of Palais Meran by Harald Lothaller, director of studies. After this visitors will be able to get information about the University and its range of programmes in the small room in individual consultations at 10:15 am. Info tours to the Stage Design Institute and the Drama Institute plus various trial lessons give an insight into the daily activities of life at the University. The team of the Welcome Center additionally offers tours around the architectually remarkable campus site.

Medical University of Graz

The “Auf den Spuren von CSI & Co” (On the tracks of CSI & co) tour in the morning grants access to the premises of Forensic Medicine, where research is conducted into determining blood groups and the genetic fingerprint of DNA.  At 11:45 am there will be an opportunity to get information about the admission procedure at the Medical University of Graz, before several University departments will open their doors to interested persons at LKH-Univ. Klinikum (regional and teaching hospital). A shuttle bus leaves at 1 p.m. to the hospital.

TU Graz

At Campus Inffeldgasse, graduates will provide information about the variety of job profiles at TU Graz in technology and science. Also in the programme: Information tours at various institutes, personal advice about particular fields of study, getting to know students teams and the student representatives of HTU Graz (TU Graz Student union). On top of this, there will be teams from the Registration Office, “FIT – Women in Technology” and the “Studying Without Barriers” service.
