Subject Descriptive Geometry

The subject Descriptive Geometry at TU Graz is right for you if you are interested in mathematics and computer science – especially in geometry and visualisation – and you enjoy solving geometric-mathematical problems and passing on your knowledge.

Content

Specialist scientific competences in descriptive geometry will be taught at TU Graz:

  • You learn about the meaning, system, state of knowledge and methods of descriptive geometry.
  • You acquire basic knowledge of constructive and higher geometry.
  • You learn to use professional software and Computer Aided Design (CAD) methods.
  • You acquire fundamental knowledge of geometry as a mathematical discipline.
  • You learn to work independently in an academic manner.

Specialised didactic competences will be taught at the University College of Teacher Education (Pädagogische Hochschule):

  • You familiarise yourself with relevant syllabuses, learn to interpret them and implement them in lessons.
  • You learn how to plan, teach, reflect on and evaluate descriptive geometry lessons.
  • You learn to communicate and train spatial sense.
  • You discover how to adapt your lessons to the different levels of your pupils.
  • You learn how to understand, analyse and support subject-specific learning processes.
  • You learn how to use pupils’ everyday experiences to help them understand lessons.
  • You work with new technologies, as well as media-related and pedagogical concepts which you apply in lessons.

Graduates of the Teacher Education Programme for Descriptive Geometry teach the school subjects descriptive geometry, technical drawing, design practice and related subjects at general or vocational secondary schools.

In addition, they teach geometry and how to use CAD products at technical colleges and adult education institutions.
