As final part of the master program a master's thesis has to be written. The Institute of Timber Engineering and Wood Technology enables students to write their thesis in the frame of ongoing research projects. In addition, interdisciplinary collaboration with other institutions is supported.

As member of the Doctoral School for Civil Engineering Science the institute provides the possibility to write a dissertation. After graduating the doctoral school, the PhD in science (Dr.techn.) is awarded.
