One of the core activites in the IMAT-Lab is the production of metallurgical samples. Such samples are the basis for microstructural investigation and documentation. The IMAT runs two metallographic labs:  One for teaching, where students produce their samples either for their courses or for their bachelor- or mastertheses; and the other lab is aimed at working for research projects and contract work.
