On 10 November 2025, the Faculty of Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering hosted its annual Faculty Day. The afternoon brought together the faculty community for scientific inspiration, recognition of achievements and networking.
Following the welcome address by Dean Gernot Müller-Putz, attendees enjoyed a series of engaging research talks covering topics from self-learning MRI and quantum graph colouring to soft robotics and generative models for spatial reasoning.
The program continued with the Dean’s List Ceremony, honoring the top 5% of students of Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Information & Computer Engineering and Software Engineering & Management. The lucky winner of the €12,000 Dean's List Scholarship 2025 is Verena Schaffer, a student on the Master's degree programme in Computer Science.
As a counterpart to the Dean's List, the Student's List was then awarded to recognise excellent courses. The student representatives BME honoured Kyriaki Kostoglou for her course "Non-Invasive Brain-Computer Interfaces, VO", while the student representatives ISO and ICE awarded two lectures: "Computer Organization and Networks, KU" (Jakob Heher, Lukas Lamster, Stefan Mangard, Martin Unterguggenberger, Moritz Waser) and "Logik und Berechenbarkeit, KU" (Bettina Könighofer, Stefan Pranger).
Highlights of the event were the inaugural lectures by Elisabeth Lex and Alexander Lex. Due to their shared surname, this special session was referred to as the "Lextures". Elisabeth Lex presented her work on "Human-Centered AI for Inclusion", while Alexander Lex focused on "Human Factors in Data Visualization", marking an inspiring conclusion to the day.
