You may also get to your destination quickly by using our reliable public transport services, aka Öffis. What you Need to Know

  • Austria drives on the right-hand side of the road.
  • Graz has tram, bus and night bus services. Getting caught without a valid ticket is called "schwarzfahren". You will be fined.
  • The so-called "Altstadtbim" (Old Town Tram) is free of charge
  • A large network of cycle paths ensures safe cycling across the city
  • Parking is subject to charge in Graz city centre (short-stay or “blue” zones)
  • Maximum speed within the Graz area on minor roads is 30 km/h, and 50 km/h on major roads.
  • Graz has an airport and railway stations, the biggest one being the "Hauptbahnhof" (main train station).
  • There are taxi ranks at the airport, main station and in the city centre.
  • A taxi ride from the city centre to Graz airport takes about 20 minutes.
  • Distances: Graz to Vienna: 200 km, Graz to Trieste: 300 km

Please Note

  • Buses and trams in Graz (zone 101) operate between 4:30 am and 11:30 pm. On Fridays, Saturdays and prior to holidays, the Graz Nightline operates additionally from 0:30 am to 2:30 am.
  • You can purchase tickets from the ticket machine (accepts coins or a cash dispenser /credit card only) in the vehicle, via mobile phone, at shops selling Graz Linien tickets (such as tobacco shops) or at Graz Linien Mobility Centre. Don’t forget to validate your ticket!  
  • Parking is charged for throughout Graz city centre – there is a blue and green zone.
