Additional and Supplementary Examinations

Through additional and supplementary examinations, it should be possible for students who have taken different secondary school leaving examinations to reach the same level of knowledge.

Additional examinations must be completed before admission to the bachelor’s degree programme, whereas supplementary examinations must be completed during the bachelor’s degree programme.

Additional Examinations

For admission to certain bachelor’s degree programmes offered at the TU Graz, you are required to pass an additional exam if you are unable to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the subject area. Currently, the following additional exams are required at TU Graz:
  • Descriptive Geometry
  • Biology
You can take the additional examinations as an external candidate at schools offering the relevant subject.

Additional Examination in "Descriptive Geometry"

According to the Curriculum for the bachelor’s programme Teacher Training Course for Secondary Education (in German: Curriculum Bachelorstudium Lehramt Sekundarstufe Allgemeinbildung), you must provide proof of your knowledge of descriptive geometry for admission to the teacher training course in Descriptive Geometry. Graduates of the TVE diploma examination and graduates of secondary schools without the compulsory subject Descriptive Geometry must take the additional examination in Descriptive Geometry before they can be admitted to the degree programme.

Additional Examination in "Biology"

According to the University Entrance Qualification Regulations (in German: Universitätsberechtigungsverordnung), graduates of the TVE diploma examination and graduates of secondary schools or Higher Technical and Vocational Institutes (TGLA) without the compulsory subject Biology must take the additional examination in Biology for admission to the following bachelor’s programmes:

  • Molecular Biology

The additional examination in Biology is not required, if a admission examination takes place.

Supplementary Examinations

If you are required to take a supplementary exam to complete the admission process, you can complete this (these) during the bachelor's degree programme. However, the examination must be taken before the last examination in the Bachelor's programme. It is recommended to take one of the two courses at the beginning of your studies and to take the exam promptly.

Currently, the following supplementary exams are required at TU Graz:

  • Descriptive Geometry

You can access the supplemental exam via TUGRAZonline during your studies.

Supplementary Examination in "Descriptive Geometry"

According to the University Entrance Qualification Regulations (in German: Universitätsberechtigungsverordnung), graduates of the TVE diploma examination and graduates of secondary schools without the compulsory subject Descriptive Geometry must take the supplementary examination in Descriptive Geometry during their degree programme if they are enrolled in one of the following bachelor’s degree programmes:

  • Architecture
  • Civil Engineering and Construction Management
  • Geodesy
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering and Business Economics
  • Chemical and Process Engineering

Supplementary Course in Descriptive Geometry – Course date 1

The supplementary course consists of a lecture (Vorlesung) and a practical (Übung) and is held in German.
