Job Profile: University Assistant

As a University Assistant you are involved in research (40%), teaching (40%) and administrative (20%) matters at the Institute. You are an important member who keeps the institute running. You can work as independently as possible in all areas, whereas new and innovative ideas are always welcome. There is also various possibilities to upskill and reskills yourself.

Teaching

In the role of a teacher one is responsible for holding classes such as lectures, exercises, labs, etc., but also for supervising and helping students with their Bachelor's and Master's theses and other projects.

Adapting to student's needs and trying new and different didactical methods and concepts is a key point in successfully educating as many students as possible, wherefore numerous professional trainings are provided by the university.

Research

In the role of a reasearcher one is focussing on a specialised, scientifically unexploited topic that is of oneselfs and of the supervisor's interest. In general, it is possible to work on a dissertation within the research activities.

The main activities during research are publishing new findings in conference publications, journal papers or on posters and taking part at international conferences to connect with the community within one's topic.

Administrative Tasks

The last, yet less important, part is taking over tasks in organising the institute. This is depending on one's preferences and can range from organising internal or external events, managing projects (from small internal to large EU projects), via social media to writing project proposals.

Human Ressource Development and In-House Training

Additionally you have to chance to upskill yourself via the Human Resource Development Department. This department provides support for all employees of TU Graz, and helps to add to your professional qualifications, enhance your individual potential and develop your personal and professional skills. For example, there are several interesting initiatives and offers for managers: exchange, coaching, (young) leadership programmes, project management training and much more.

Background and Experience

Must-have

  • Completed Master's degree
  • Good command of English
  • Sound knowledge in the field of electrical engineering, especially in the area of electronics/microelectronics

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in Teaching: e.g. as student assistant
  • Experience in the field of circuit simulation and specifically IC design
