Advancing digital teaching and learning together
The Educational Technology organisational unit not only provides all teaching staff and students with digital infrastructure such as TU Graz TeachCenter, TUbe or iMooX, but also offers teaching staff comprehensive advice and further training as part of the Teaching Academy. The efficient, best possible and didactically successful use of technologies is an essential building block for the innovative teaching of the future. For this reason, the TELucation platform was also created, which bundles contributions and instructions on digital teaching as well as the podcast ‘Lehren – Lernen – Lauschen’ (‘Teaching – learning – listening’) with lecturers from TU Graz in one place – telucation.tugraz.at/en.
Promoting joint teaching with international partners
Are you planning a course with an international component? The International Office – Welcome Center gives advice on the available offers. Until 14 July, lecturers can still submit concepts for the development of joint courses in order to receive up to 15,000 euros (tu4u.tugraz.at/go/joint-courses-development). Teachers can also apply for funding for the implementation of the mobility phase of joint courses, something which benefits TU Graz students and the course leader. Applications for the winter semester 2025/26 can be submitted by 1 July 2025.
‘Teaching at TU Graz is constantly evolving in order to offer our students the best possible education. A big thank you goes out to all our dedicated teaching staff and employees in the service departments, who – in keeping with the motto “We care about education” – make excellent teaching possible at TU Graz!’
Stefan Vorbach, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs
Guided through your doctoral studies
A lot has happened since the Coordination Office Doctoral Studies was established at our university. A new guide is available for supervisors in doctoral programmes, which provides compact information on the most important aspects of supervision. It takes into account the latest legal and curricular requirements (e.g. submission of the training agreement in 3 to 6 months, ECTS credits instead of semester hours, appointment of mentors). Since October 2024, all newly admitted doctoral students have also received their own guide with information. For more information, see www.tugraz.at/go/doctoral-programmes.
Developing and improving teaching together
With respect to developing the range of services, the benefits for teachers are particularly important. All activities are accompanied by feedback loops; last winter, for example, the Higher Education and Programme Development organisational unit conducted a survey of lecturers for the first time. In it, TU Graz lecturers were able to present their teaching situation and the framework conditions for teaching. Based on the results, measures are to be derived that contribute to the further development of teaching. Reports and further information can be found at TU4U: tu4u.tugraz.at/en/bedienstete/lehre/teaching-staff-surveys
Celebrating successes together
The graduates of the ‘Expert’ module were recently presented with their certificates as part of the Teaching Academy's fifth anniversary celebrations. 2025 is also a special year for Life Long Learning (LLL), as the service department celebrates its 20th anniversary on 30 October. Innovation and zeitgeist have always played a key role at LLL. The latest offer for lecturers at TU Graz: Advice on transforming courses into innovative, flexible learning formats such as microcredentials to primarily meet the needs of working students (Design and implementation of microcredentials).
The service departments of the Vice Rectorate for Academic Affairs and beyond offer a wealth of support options, the latest offers are compiled twice a semester and sent to all lecturers at TU Graz via the newsletter Teaching and Learning News. If you want to develop your teaching and are unsure which organisational unit offers the right services for you, please contact vr-lehre. Our team will work with you to find the best solution. @tugraz.at
