icons - consulting by students is Austria's largest student-run consultancy and serves a broad range of national and international companies and organisations. It has also been active in Styria since 2015. Students from all Graz universities are involved in numerous projects in the fields of consulting, leadership, communication and start-ups, bringing not only their enthusiasm but also state-of-the-art expertise from their respective disciplines. Clients have included Magna Steyr, A1, SAX Eis and the SOS Kinderdorf.
In addition to this project-based work, icons supports exchange and continuing education. The team meets weekly and organises regular events and training sessions. Moreover, the members are internally involved in one of the following areas: marketing, sales, IT, environmental social responsibility, finance, or human potential.
I am enthusiastically pursuing my studies in Mechanical Engineering and Business Economics, but I also like working in teams, taking on more responsibility and learning more about communication and business. That's exactly what I've been able to do at icons.
Whether it's taking part in external projects with companies, organising events, or working with students from different disciplines…I can always discover something new. At icons, I can explore topics that aren’t offered in any curriculum and have met incredible people who’ve become my best friends.

Icons - consulting by students
- has been Austria's largest student-run consultancy since 2010,
- generated half a million euros in cumulative turnover for the first time in 2013,
- has almost 90 members, involves over 450 alumni and completed its 300th project in 2021.
Another success is the cooperation formed with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the world's leading strategic management consulting firm.
Interested?
You can apply to join icons at the beginning of each semester. Once your application documents have been reviewed, you will be invited to an assessment centre. If your application is accepted, you will receive training as a ‘fellow’ and be assigned an individual, initial project. This project needs to be completed under supervision within six weeks, and your project performance determines whether you are permanently accepted.
