The Federal Chancellery of the Republic of Austria and the Main Association of the Austrian Book Trade are together hosts of the competition "The Most Beautiful Books in Austria". An expert jury evaluates the submitted books and selects 15 of them as "The Most Beautiful Books in Austria 2018". The competition honors books for their design and manufacturing quality in order to highlight this integral part of book production, present it to the public and give it the recognition it deserves. One of this year's award winners is Andreas Lechner's habilitation thesis Entwurf einer architektonischen Gebäudelehre (Design: CH Studio). The jury emphasized the clear but refined typography, as well as the precise selection and mimimalism: not a single color illustration, no photos, only text and lines.
