At the Symposium Energieinnovation, the Young Author Awards were once again presented to promote young researchers.

The Symposium Energieinnovation has placed a strong focus on supporting early-career researchers for many years. In addition to reduced participation fees for students, the conference also presents the Young Author Awards.

Authors are eligible for the award if they are not older than 30 years at the time of submission, submit a full paper on time, are listed as the first author, and present their paper themselves. An additional incentive is that the full papers of the award-winning contributions are published in a special issue of the e&i journal.

In total, ten young authors were honored at this year’s symposium. The award ceremony took place during the evening event in the Nikola Tesla High Voltage Hall at TU Graz. The awards were presented by Mag. Andrea Höglinger, Vice Rector for Research at TU Graz, and Mag. Hannes Bauer from the Austrian Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure. The ceremony was moderated by Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Schichler (TU Graz, Head of the Institute of High Voltage Engineering and System Management).

The Young Author Award winners are presented below in alphabetical order:

  • Wendelin Angermann (TU Graz, Institute of Electric Power Systems and Networks)
  • Viktoria Haberl (HyCentA Research GmbH)
  • Hana Hasanagic (AIT Austrian Institute of Technology)
  • Johannes Heise (Hamburg University of Technology, Institute of Electrical Power Engineering)
  • Mourad Kharrat (RWTH Aachen University)
