The Call for Papers for the 19th Symposium on Energy Innovation has been published.

From February 11–13, 2026, the 19th Symposium on Energy Innovation will take place at Graz University of Technology (TU Graz). The symposium is organized by the Institute of Electricity Economics and Energy Innovation (IEE) at TU Graz in cooperation with the Austrian Electrotechnical Association (OVE), OesterreichsEnergie (the interest group of the Austrian electricity industry), and the World Energy Council Austria. The theme of this year’s event is:

ENERGIZING EUROPE - Innovations for a Sustainable Energy Future

The geopolitical situation is shifting from a unipolar to a multipolar world order. For the European energy sector, this entails major challenges: in addition to the consequences of the Russia–Ukraine war and U.S. policy, questions of supply security, price developments, and competitiveness are increasingly coming into focus. While the EU has played a pioneering role in renewable energy and emissions reduction over the past decades, it now requires a new energy boost. This must be ensured through technological, economic, regulatory, and societal innovations along the entire value chain in order to secure a sustainable energy supply.

Science and research, industry, NGOs, associations, as well as politics and public administration are therefore called upon to contribute to the sound development of the European energy sector and society. These contributions will be presented and discussed in depth at the symposium.

We cordially invite you to submit contributions in the following thematic areas:

  1. Models, scenarios, and innovations for a resilient energy system
  2. Future of renewable energy
  3. Energy and electricity markets
  4. Requirements for transmission and distribution infrastructures (electricity, gas, heat)
  5. Sector coupling, flexibility, hydrogen, and energy storage
  6. Energy efficiency, digitalization, and smart energy systems
  7. Future issues concerning energy and mobility

We kindly invite you to submit an abstract by November 30, 2025. Further information can be found in the Call for Papers.
