Graz Concrete Colloquium 2018

4th Graz Concrete Colloquium - 20/21 September 2018

Concrete and energy...

can be viewed from many different angles. The grey energy of concrete was already examined in detail at the 2nd Graz Concrete Colloquium 2014 under the topic "Sustainable Building with Concrete". But what about the question of energy and concrete in general? In one of our focal points this year, experts will talk about the most diverse concrete applications for generating, transporting or storing energy. Recently, concrete can also be used as an insulating material in façades.

We will also focus on the revitalisation of concrete buildings. Is it worth maintaining a building or is it better to build a new one? In addition to constructive questions and solutions, we also look at benefits and economic efficiency.

Our third block of topics is dedicated to the production of concrete; the process from mixing to placing, with a focus on shotcrete in the latter case. And of course there are still the traditional thematic blocks on current research activities and innovations as well as on new regulations and their introduction. Due to the broad popularity in the past colloquia, we would like to organise a Best Paper Award for the doctoral students of the Department of Concrete Construction again this year. The best paper will be awarded during the joint evening event. For a change, this will not take place on the Schlossberg, but we will enjoy a wonderful view over the city of Graz and onto the Schlossberg.

We look forward to your active participation and an intensive exchange between science and practice as well as between concrete technology and structural engineering.

3rd Graz Concrete Colloquium - 29/30 September 2016
The development in concrete construction ...

... covers a broad field that not only concerns materials, constructions and building methods but also includes modelling and standardisation. This year's "Grazer Betonkolloquium" gives space to this broad range of expertise with the aim of establishing new developments quickly and effectively in construction practice. In addition, as every year, we will take up current topics that will be dealt with in depth by selected expert lectures and your contribution to the discussion. At this year's event, we will focus on building in existing contexts, starting with condition assessment and extending to renovation and reinforcement measures. The planning and execution of watertight structures as well as the scientific background to this form our second focus.  Once again, we place great emphasis on linking concrete technology with structural design. We are particularly interested in young scientists, who are invited to publish their current research results in the form of a scientific paper in the conference proceedings and a poster presentation on site. The presentation of the Best Paper Award is the highlight of the traditional social evening in a cosy atmosphere at the Schlossberg in Graz.

2nd Graz Concrete Colloquium - 25/26 September 2014
The 2nd Graz Concrete Colloquium was held on 25 and 26 September 2014. The theme of this year's event was "Sustainable construction with concrete: material and design".
In addition to technical presentations on the topics of sustainability at the material level, sustainability at the construction level, life cycle design, sustainability in implementation -new construction, refurbishment and conversion- as well as the innovations on dimensioning, execution and inspection, there is the opportunity for doctoral students to be nominated for the "Best Paper Award" with a written contribution and a poster presentation.

1st Graz Concrete Colloquium - 27/28 September 2012
The 1st Graz Concrete Colloquium under the motto "The versatility of a building material", which took place on 27 and 28 September 2012.
The event creates a platform for discussion between research and practice. The aim is to promote holistic thinking and knowledge from material technology to structural design solutions and thus the progress of concrete construction in a responsible manner.

Recognised experts from the international, German-speaking world will speak on the topics of "Development and use of high-performance concretes, durability and sustainability, design with concrete and integral construction".
