Sonja Wogrin has been elected as a corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW).

The Institute of Electricity Economics and Energy Innovation is proud to announce that its head, Sonja Wogrin, has been elected as a corresponding member in Austria to the mathematical-natural sciences class of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW).

This distinction recognizes outstanding scientific achievements and the international visibility of leading researchers. In March, the ÖAW elected a total of 46 new members, including 29 women and 17 men. According to ÖAW President Heinz Faßmann, this year’s elections mark an important milestone, as the Academy becomes younger, more diverse, and more female, with over 60% of newly elected members being women.

The election of Sonja Wogrin highlights the growing importance and visibility of energy economics and energy system modelling within the international research community. Her work contributes significantly to the analysis and design of future energy systems, particularly in the context of the energy transition.

We warmly congratulate Sonja Wogrin on this prestigious recognition and are proud to celebrate this success as an institute!
