Energy System Optimization Workshop 2025 at TU Graz

On 27 and 28 November 2025, a high-level workshop on the optimization of future energy systems took place at TU Graz.

The Energy System Optimization Workshop 2025 brought together leading researchers and practitioners at TU Graz for two intensive days of scientific exchange. Organized by Robert Gaugl and the team of the Institute of Electricity Economics and Energy Innovation (IEE), the workshop focused on advanced modeling and optimization methods for future energy systems.

The diverse program covered a wide range of topics including data aggregation and decomposition approaches, machine learning based forecasting of cross-border electricity flows, design of future energy markets, uncertainty modeling, long-duration energy storage, system resilience, and expansion planning. The presentations highlighted the breadth of challenges and solutions needed for the transition towards Net-Zero energy systems.
