Transmission and distribution of electrical energy

The reliable transmission and distribution of electrical energy has always been the backbone of the electrical energy supply. In times of far-reaching structural changes - particularly due to the decentralisation and electrification of large sectors - the systematic analysis of transmission and distribution grids is once again gaining relevance. Our research focuses on grid planning processes, operational issues of grid reconstruction and the integration of different generation and load characteristics. In addition to classic grid calculations, hybrid grid forms are increasingly taking centre stage. The methods and tools derived from this form an indispensable basis for a resilient energy infrastructure of the future.

Research areas:

  •  Low-voltage grids in transition
  •  Black start and grid reconstruction
  •  Grid calculation in transmission grids
  •  State estimation in distribution grids
  •  Magnetic transformer modelling
