Dr. Eugen Brenner

Short CV

Eugen Brenner is retired Associate Professor at the Institute for Technical Informatics of the Graz University of Technology. He completed his master in Electrical Engineering 1983 in Graz, including a master's thesis about design and implementation of hard- and software for a micro-robot. His PhD in Control Theory was finished 1987 also in Graz, dealing with optimal control in systems with limited actuating variables. He joined the institute in 1987, being the first scientific staff member. His post-doctoral lecture qualification in Process Automation was achieved in 1996.He has been member of the senate, of the curricula commission for Bachelor and Master-Programs, head of the Study Commission and Dean of Studies for Information and Computer Engineering. He also took part in two EU-Projects dealing with Learning Outcomes in formal and non-formal learning environments. Eugen Brenner's primary research interests developed from FPGA-based hardware extension to parallel systems, real-time systems and process control systems. The most recent focus targeting embedded systems is on modelling, software-development, systems engineering and systems security, including agile programming methods and smart service engineering. Various projects with academic and industrial partners focused on software development for automotive systems, process control, communication protocols and devices, energy management, agile smart service development, and Industry 4.0.

Mr. Brenner has been retired since October 1, 2021, but continues to work at the institute, both in teaching and research as well as in the supervision of scientific work.
