Results Integral Design Studio WS 2019/20

The aim of the winter semester 2019/20 studio "Thinking in Systems" was to develop a modular prefabricated system for steel hall structures. Thanks to the kind support of the ETH Zurich our students were invited to an excursion where the work of the Swiss architect Fritz Haller was studied on site. Haller is particularly well known for his building systems MAXI, MINI, MIDI, and the furniture system USM Haller. Then, the students developed modular building systems and nodes, taking into account the architectural needs, weight optimisation and a concept for the assembly of the building system. A particular challenge was to produce a brass model of the construction, soldering the individual nodes.
