The Digital Lifecycle Lab (DLL) at the Institute of Machine Components and Methods of Development (IME) at Graz University of Technology is an environment for interdisciplinary systems development. The DLL focuses on a holistic and interconnected development approach supported by Systems Engineering (SE), Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). This industry-oriented development platform is specifically aligned with the phases of product development and includes not only software and IT infrastructure, but also embedded training platforms and an innovative spatial concept.
The DLL serves not only to educate the next generation of engineers, but also as a solution incubator for practice-oriented development challenges and as a platform for research activities in the fields of SE, MBSE, and PLM. Combined with its innovative laboratory concept, it creates a unique engineering workspace for students, researchers, and industry partners. Student teams have already developed a wide range of solutions in the DLL, including, for example, a physical prototype of a transport system or an alpine rescue drone system.
