Development of a wayside condition monitoring methodology for rails based on an integrated ultrasonic inspection approach

Objective of the project is the development of a reliable and robust wayside condition monitoring concept to quantitatively assess surface defects in rails via an integrated ultrasonic methodology applying surface acoustic waves. A demonstration of the monitoring concept shall be realized via the development of a low cost sensing network suited for permanent installation and its evaluation in full-scale experiments.
