Multiphase reactions

Multiphase reactions play a key role in industry, due to the need of an as profitable production process as possible. Process intensification has become increasingly important in recent years. The intensification of multiphase reactions can happen, for example because of improved sustainability, performance parameters for a higher conversion and phase contact.

The aim of the doctoral thesis is the experimental investigation and modelling of continuously operated multiphase reactions. The hydrometallurgic recycling of lithium-ion batteries is studied. Various processes for the recovery of recyclable materials (e.g., lithium, cobalt, nickel and manganese) are investigated. The studied processes include leaching, precipitation and solvent extraction.
