ECOSun - Economic COgeneration by Efficiently COncentrated SUNlight

The proposed project targets a radical cost reduction of electricity and heat co-generation via a CPV-T system. Solar radiation is captured in a parabolic trough concentrator based on a novel injection molding structure and focused on a Co-Generation Absorber Module (CAM), where special c-Si-PV-cellsare operated under concentration. The heat dissipated through the cells is transferred into a heat transfer fluid (HTF) and, in combination with the electricity, can be used for various applications, such as solar cooling or heating, significantly increasing system efficiency.

Figure 1: Possible application of the ECOSun parabolic trough concentrator with Co-Generation Absorber Module (CAM). (*Similar manufacturing processes such as thermoforming or extruding may also represent a viable solution)
