The number of applications where states of systems have to be monitored or observed over a long time period is continuously increasing. Online condition monitoring refers to instrumentation and signal processing techniques, to gain knowledge about parameters of processes. The application of online condition monitoring spans from monitoring tasks of engines and machines, up to the monitoring of critical infrastructure such as water supply nets or power distribution grids.
