Within the NExT project, we are developing models to assess tire, rail- wheel s, contact wire and brake wear emissions for road and rail vehicles in detail, and simplified models for road wear and re-suspended particles. Models shall predict total wear as well as PM10, PM2.5, PN23 and PN10.
Within the consortium, we work on two different system levels:
- Vehicle level:
Using existing dynamic vehicle simulation tools (PHEM, MoTIVe), NEP emissions will be simulated on vehicle level. The models are semi-empirical approaches, which are supported by optimized component and vehicle test procedures to be elaborated in WP 3 (Test procedures).
- Component level:
On component level, friction mechanisms are modelled on component level, which enables to consider e.g. temperature or stick-slip effects. In this way, the behavior or specific tires or brakes can be modelled and predicted.
