The Institute for Structural Durability and Railway Technology is involved in the research and further development of advanced design concepts and provides methods for the operationally stable design of lightweight components and entire systems.

The comprehensive testing infrastructure enables experimental analysis at multiple size scales, from small samples to large structures, ensuring consistent transferability and application-oriented validation and approval.

Teaching covers operational stability, design and lightweight construction in mechanical engineering and railway vehicle construction in theory and practice. Further scientific and technical training can take place in application-oriented thesis projects.
