The project STELA: Smart Tower Enhancement Leoben Austria deals with the comprehensive thermal and technical renovation and upgrading of living quarters designed in the 70's on the example of a residential complex in Judendorf Leoben.
Ecological and economic background is the fact that living near the center of dense settlements conserves resources. Living in multi-storey buildings will only be accepted if the residential and recreational quality can compete with single-family homes. These buildings have to offer the right spaces to enable the desired lifestyle concepts, and thus create a balanced mixture of inhabitants and users taking account of demographic developments.
As part of this demonstration and pilot project, a multi-storey residential building is being enhanced.
