Future Workshop

The Future Workshop is an event in which a group of citizens or stakeholders, based on a joint understanding of a problem situation, work together to develop a vision of the future that is supported by everyone. Then, the participants consider what steps are necessary to make this vision of the future come true and how realistic it is that these steps will be taken at a certain point in the future. The Future Workshop thus follows the idea of backcasting and implements it in a framework in which the vision and realization steps are the result of a group discussion process.
The future workshop is based on the ideas of the German-Austrian futurologist Robert Jungk (1913 1994). Readers of German can find further information on the method here:
