About the Institute

The Institute of Thermal Engineering at the Graz University of Technology has been engaged in power engineering and energy management as well in research as in teaching since 1925. Traditional stresses have been put on Steam Boiler Engineering and Locomotive Engineering. Research and development key aspects varying from traditional plant technology to renewable energies have evolved from that. A chronicle gives details about the history of the institute.

Until today, the institute's mission is

  • the development of innovative energy management/power engineering for Austria and Europe
  • conservation of resources through energy-efficient usage and energy conservation/saving
