Multibody Dynamics

Our course on Multibody Dynamics focuses on the simulation of mechanical system motion. The lecture first covers the basic concepts of multibody simulation. Then, students implement these techniques in small teams as part of a programming task for simple mechanisms.

However, what is the value of a simulation if there is still doubt as to whether the simulation describes reality? To assess the plausibility of the simulation results, 3D models were printed for several mechanisms. These 3D models show the motion of the mechanisms in the real world.

The movements of the 3D models are recorded with simple sensors or videotaped and used for comparison with the simulation data.

We are happy to provide the print files and construction plans and invite you to build the models yourself! The files are located on the Zenodo server.
