Matchmaking Encryption

Daniele Venturi, Professor of Applied Mathematics, UC Santa Cruz, introduce a new form of encryption that we name matchmaking encryption (ME). ME opens up new ways of secretly communicating, and enables several new applications where both participants can specify fine-grained access policies to encrypted data. For instance, in social matchmaking, a sender can encrypt a file containing his/her personal details and specify a policy so that the file can be decrypted only by his/her ideal partner.

The most start-ups in the environment of a university
With 34 start-ups between January 2018 and July 21, Graz University of Technology has produced the most start-ups in the environment of a university. This is the result of a survey by the initiative "Spin-off Austria" on the academic start-up landscape in Austria. Many of those start-ups are also in connection with our department! We want to light up our department related start-ups.

TU Graz 100: 330,000 euros awarded to talented students
The "TU Graz 100" program is designed to provide young people with excellent learning success with an education in science and technology - regardless of their financial background. Now the first 36 talents were awarded in a festive setting. 8 out of the 36 talents are from our department.

Austria-Forum: The knowledge network from Austria
The Austria Forum is an information portal on Austria-related topics. In October 2009 it was presented to the public. Hermann Maurer, from our Institute of Interactive Systems and Data Science,recently talked with the ORF about his project.

Digital TU Graz Marketplace: new Calls 2021
At the Digital TU Graz we are looking for innovative ideas in teaching, research, and administration. Employees from TU Graz can submit their project proposals for technology enhanced teaching and learning (TEL), excellent MOOCs, and research data management (RDM). Students from TU Graz can submit ideas for (Open-Source) solutions for technology enhanced administration (TEA). Submission deadline for all three calls is December 20th 2021.
You can find examples of past Digital TU Graz Marketplace projects, the Marketplace itself and its methods in the newly published "University Innovation Report".
 


List-Förderpreis 2022 (in German)
Funding is provided for work that makes a future-oriented contribution to solving urban traffic and parking problems. Creative contributions to the traffic of the future are just as welcome as novel concepts and ideas.

ÖFG: Preis für Wissenschaftsjournalismus (in German)
The transfer of scientific findings to the public is a central theme of the Third Mission of both university and non-university research. The prize is offered in the categories of daily newspapers, magazines, radio contributions, and television and video contributions, and a maximum of one prize per category is awarded.

Amgen Scholars Programme 2022
ETH Zurich offers 15 - 25 scholarships for a summer research stay within the Amgen Scholars Programme. The programme applies to students studying for a Bachelor’s degree at a European university.The ten-week programme covers nine weeks of intensive research in a state-of-the art laboratory in Zurich or Basel. Working as part of a research team, you will have the opportunity to interact with leading scientists and doctoral students. A closing highlight of the programme is the joint symposium for all European Amgen Scholars in Cambridge, UK.

Student Summer Research Fellowship 2022
The program offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to gain their first research experience in an area of their choice. The fellowship provided by the Computer Science Department of ETH Zurich takes place during two summer months (July 01 - August 31) and is open to all students worldwide. Application starts by beginning of November.

EU: ERC - Stzarting Grant Call - Support for Applicants by FFG
For the open Starting Grant Call (deadline 13.01.2022), the Austrian National Contact Point for ERC offers a review of draft proposals, focusing on structure and lessons learnt from evaluation comments, to complement scientific feedback applicants receive from peers. If you are interested, please send your draft to erc@ffg.at.

EU: First Calls under Digital Europe Programme launched
The Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL), with a total budget of €7.59 billion, will help European society and businesses make the most of the digital transformation. It will be implemented mainly through coordinated and strategic co-investment with Member States in the areas of high-performance computing and data processing, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and advanced digital skills in the private and public sectors.

EU: Horizon Europe Cluster 4 "Digital, Industry & Space": New Calls for Proposals open
