Faculty Day 2021
October 14th, 2021 | 14:30

Thank you for all the registrations. We are fully booked on site, but there is a livestream to join the event online. If you are already registered but can not come on site, please get it touch with us to give a chance to register for others.
The annual Faculty Day is intended to be a celebration of the people who made and make our faculty great and at the same time a platform for networking among alumni, students, and current staff. The program consists of science talks, the Dean´s List ceremony as well as the inaugural lecture of David Garcia Becerra.

Have you been thinking about going abroad as part of your studies for some time now? Do you keep asking yourself the following questions: Where? When? For how long? What opportunities are there at all?
During the International Days there will be various opportunities to get information, ask open questions and network with students who are currently doing a semester abroad or are doing their exchange at Graz University of Technology. 



Computer science education in Bavaria: reacting to the challenges of digitization

it is a pleasure for us to invite you to the talk "Computer science education in Bavaria: reacting to the challenges of digitization" from Prof. Peter Hubwieser, Technical University of Munich, Germany. The talk takes place inHS BE01 (STEG140) (in person with restricted seats) or via Webex on Tue 19th October, 2021 from 17:00 - 18:00. If you prefer to attend in person, please register here, we will inform all registered participants via email if an on-site seat is available (there is a capacity of 60 seats, so this should probably be enough space) .

Inauguration Lecture of the new Master´s Computational Social Systems

The Kick-Off Event for the new Master´s Computastional Social Systems took place in a fully booked "Meerscheinschlössl". David Gracia Becerra, Prof. for Computational Behavioral and Social Sciences, led throughout the event. Highlight was the guest lecture by Aniko Hannak (University of Zurich) on "The New Faces of Bias in Online Platforms".



Announcement of topics for bachelor and master theses at the Institute of Computer Graphics and Knowledge Visualisation

With the new winter semester coming up, we are announcing current topics for Bachelor and Master theses in the areas of Computer Graphics, Geometry Processing and Visual Analytics, supported by the Institute of Compute Graphics and Knowledge Visualization together with Fraunhofer Austria.



The power of thought - Müller-Putz and his team

How does the brain communicate with the fist? How do brain waves guide movements? Which signals control motor activity?
The team led by Gernot Müller-Putz at the Institute of Neural Engineering is a leader in the exploration of brain signals and their implementation in the movement of prostheses. See here for more information about the ERC Project FeelYourReach.

OeAD: Sparkling Science 2.0 (in German)
The BMBWF and the OeAD support projects in which research and educational institutions cooperate with partners from business and society and jointly generate new research results. The goal of the funding program is to promote the participation of students and other citizens in research projects.

ÖAW: APART-MINT
APART-MINT is a funding program for excellent young scientists in mathematics, natural and life sciences, technical sciences and medicine in the first post-doc phase (up to 3 years after doctorate/PhD. The fellowships with a duration of 12 months are intended to support unconventional, innovative, potentially risky ideas with an uncertain outcome.
Deadline: November 05th, 2021
 

List-Förderpreis 2022 (in German)
Funding is provided for work that makes a future-oriented contribution to solving urban traffic and parking problems. Creative contributions to the traffic of the future are just as welcome as novel concepts and ideas.
Deadline: December 15th, 2021
 

ÖFG: Preis für Wissenschaftsjournalismus (in German)
The transfer of scientific findings to the public is a central theme of the Third Mission of both university and non-university research. The prize is offered in the categories of daily newspapers, magazines, radio contributions, and television and video contributions, and a maximum of one prize per category is awarded.
Deadline: January 10th, 2022
 

Stanislaw Lem European Research Prize
Lem Prize is awarded for a recent scientific achievement or discovery made within last 3 years in broadly understood field of science and engineering, with strong elements of technology, interdisciplinarity, creativity, and vision. Lem Prize is awarded annually to one young researcher whose creative work in science or engineering has potential for positive impact on the future of civilization increasingly filled with technology.

 

Doctoral Examinations

Info: Candidates can take the final examination (presentation and oral exam) online via video conference call (e.g. Webex) if all parties involved agree. The requirement of publicity can be ensured as follows: Candidates may distribute the meeting link; requests to participate in the video exam can also be sent by e-mail to the chairperson of the exam commission.
