Finalists in NIST Lightweight Crypto Competition

The US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is currently planning a new encryption standard for resource-constrained environments like the Internet of Things. For this, NIST started the "Lightweight Crypto Competition" in 2019 and will select a winner among the submitted encryption algorithms as the future standard after several rounds (and years) of evaluation.

Now NIST has announced the 10 finalists - and 3 of them were co-designed by TU Graz cryptographers.
The final decision for the new standard, which will be used world-wide to protect systems with limited resources, is expected for next year.
