The institute's research focuses on:

  • Design and dimensioning of superstructure components
  • Interaction of components within the system
  • Wheel-rail contact
  • Elasticity in the superstructure
  • Turnouts, transition zones, insulated rail joints, etc.
  • Validation of simulations with in-track measurements
  • Determination of forces, movements, accelerations, etc. in the track
  • Establishment of a laboratory for component and system testing
