The Institute of Applied Mechanics represents research and teaching in Mechanics at the department of civil engineering. Particularly, the research is focused on the simulation of wave propagation phenomena, the modeling of porous and granular media, and dynamics with friction. This includes as well the development of effective numerical algorithms for such problems.
